ADI Design Museum _ Piazza Compasso d’Oro, 1, 20154 Milano MI
Every year, the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano organises a workshop week for students on cutting-edge topics, in which design culture becomes a matrix for connecting other cultures and disciplines. In February 2024, five groups of international lecturers will be guests of the Master’s Degree Courses in Integrated Product Design and Digital Interaction Design and will lead as many workshops as possible. In this 2024 edition, the workshops will be held by international teams of designers and researchers, coordinated by:
- Duy Phong Vu
- Marie-Thérèse Cassidy
- John Thakara
- Daisuke Ishii
- Pieter Desmet
Over 120 international students will develop concepts for new products, services, systems and experiences, trying to imagine innovative solutions proposed by the lecturers and companies involved in different fields. After the two editions in February and June 2023, the third edition of the Design Talk will be held on 14 February at the ADI Design Museum.
Starting from their different cultural backgrounds and professional profiles, the designers will discuss the present and future roles, and the possible impact of design culture in a society constantly changing. In this dialogue, the following will take part:
- Antonella Andriani, Vice President of ADI
- Francesco Zurlo, Dean of the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano
- Margherita Pillan, Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Digital Interaction Design
- Venanzio Arquilla, Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Integrated Product Design
The focus will be on the knowledge, skills and abilities required of designers in an ever-changing social and professional scenario, where disciplinary barriers seemingly diminish and the physical and digital intertwine, generating new opportunities. The workshops have always characterised the designers’ training at the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano, representing a tangible opportunity to meet professional designers, different cultures, and the companies and institutions they represent. For students, it means a chance to get to know and understand the times and modes of design in companies and to put themselves to the test in building their own design identity by verifying their skills and aspirations.
