    Me Too

In 2004, Eugenio Perazza – having noticed the big gap in the field of children’s design – decided to expand Magis production, involving the target of younger people in the creative and versatile world of contemporary furniture. An operation that does not consist in simply downsizing products for adults, but that leads the company to see the world and things through the eyes of children.

Me Too is colour, imagination and fun, but at the same time the products are not just toys, but rather objects that stimulate children’s creativity and imagination. This concept is the common thread that connects them all: from Javier Mariscal’s Julier chair to Floris Hovers’ CARtools modular cars, through Eero Aarnio’s iconic Puppy, the values of playfulness and simplicity are interwoven with technical elements such as strength and durability.

    The brief

The aim of the workshop is to create an object that is consistent with the current offer of Me Too: a product that incorporates the formal and symbolic values of fun, simplicity and iconicity but also respects the technologies and materials used by the company.

A double approach is required that takes into account the evolved characteristics of the design of objects for adults and the simplicity of understanding and use for children.

Me Too products are mainly made of polyethylene produced with the roto-molding technique, which makes these objects also suitable for outdoor use. Students can explore other materials, such as wood, in harmony with the objectives of the project and the necessary safety requirements. In addition, many products tend to integrate digital devices to amplify the opportunities for play: it is possible, if the concept allows it, to imagine IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for the identified design concepts.
