OVERVIEW WORKSHOP
The educational objective of the workshop is to practice the use of design languages. Companies use VBL – (Visual Brand Language) to make the aesthetics of their products consistent, recognizable and memorable. The VBL is the set of formal signs, colors, materials, finishes, graphic elements, which constitute the visual language of the products of a company; together they make up a visual alphabet, a real style of the company, able to communicate the values and positioning of the brand to create an emotional connection with its customers. The exercise consists in rationally decoding the VBL of the products of known brands and applying it to some products of Midea.
WORKSHOP FORMAT
The students worked with Midea, one of the world’s leading consumer electronics and air handling companies, with subsidiaries all over the world.
The projects were developed by working groups of 3 – 4 people and consist of the development of 4 concepts of kitchen appliances (cooker hood, oven, microwave, hob) on the basis of a VBL (Visual Brand Language) analysis representative of the products of a brand that has been assigned to each group.
